2015 ABSA Cape Epic: Stage 5 Report.

Heat, dust, headwinds and a mechanical hiccup could not prevent Swiss Christoph Sauser and Czech Jaroslav Kulhavy from winning Stage 5 of the Absa Cape Epic from Worcester to Wellington on Friday – their fourth stage win of the 2015 race. The Investec-Songo-Specialized combination now have an overall lead of more than 10 minutes and it seems only very bad luck – a crash, illness or a serious mechanical issue – can prevent them from winning the event, Sauser for a landmark fifth time.

2015 ABSA Cape Epic: Stage 3 Video Highlights.

A transition stage on the Absa Cape Epic – from one race village host town to another – is sometimes regarded as being easier, but Wednesday's 128km Stage 3 from Elgin Valley to Worcester was "very rough and really sandy", according to race leader Christoph Sauser. Riders further back in the field also spent several hours battling in baking heat as the temperature steadily ticked up towards the 30ºC mark.

2015 ABSA Cape Epic: Stage 1

In a day of drama, Christoph Sauser Monday laid down a significant marker in his bid to become the first person to win the Absa Cape Epic five times. The Swiss master and his Czech teammate Jaroslav Kulhavy (Investec-Songo-Specialized) showed great form on the 113km Stage 1 as they overcame a puncture to finish the day almost a minute ahead of Sauser's great rival, Karl Platt of Germany, who is riding with Swiss strongman Urs Huber.
