The GO Enduro mountain bike race, presented by SRAM, helped launch the action for GO Fest Whistler on May 16. GO Enduro had 54 competitors compete, featured three timed stages in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park and ran for the first time ever on opening day for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

Curtis Keene (USA) took the win and $750 prize money on the men's side for the sprint-style Enduro, with Whistler locals Nick Geddes taking second and $500, and Jesse Melamed taking home third and $250.

Whistler locals ruled the podium on the women's side with Sarah Leishman taking home first and $250 prize money, Katrina Strand in second with $150, and Carrie Metzler in third with $100.

The junior category had Bowen Irvine in first place and the master's category featured Chris Dewar in first, Josh Lyons in second and Richard Armstrong in third.

"It was awesome to see everyone out for the first bike race of the year in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park and to tour around with friends," says Sarah Leishman, fastest woman in GO Enduro, presented by SRAM. "I'd say the race was a sprint Enduro - the stages were short and 'pedaly' and the timeframe was shorter than a full day affair, so you had to stay on your game! I put a lot of effort into each stage and it paid off."
