Tour of Tasmania with Kriss Kyle and Remy Morton

Kriss Kyle and Remy Morton have known each other for years.

They caught up again at Red Bull Hardline Wales 2024 and started talking about finally going on a MTB trip together. With several shared partners and long-standing mutual respect, Kriss and Remy prepared to team up for a joint mission. Ahead of Red Bull Hardline Tasmania 2025, the two Red Bull Riders took off for a week of road tripping and exploring what Tasmania had in store for riders of their caliber.

“I always like to kick off the year with a wee trip and there is no better way to escape British winter and go on a trip in Tasmanian summer. I was looking up to Remy for a long time, and I was inspired by his style as I think we both have a different approach to mountain biking in common compared to most other riders.”

For Kriss, it was his first proper mountain bike road trip. After flying into Hobart and meeting up with Remy, they set off in two Jeeps, hitting Derby, George Town and Queenstown, before finishing the trip in Maydena.

“The whole trip felt special. I’ve never been to Tasmania before, so everything was new and fresh. It’s on the other side of the world but it weirdly felt like a Mini-Scotland. Everyone was super nice, and a lot of mountains are called the same as in Scotland but of course the weather was the complete opposite.”

Remy, being familiar with some of the spots, enjoyed showing Kriss around the Tasmanian trails.

“It’s been really cool learning of him. He definitely approaches things with a way different mindset to a standard mountain bike rider, having a BMX background. It’s been so easy filming together. I feel like we‘ve got a pretty similar mindset. It’s been such a good time. Stoked on it.”

A standout moment for Kriss was the heli-biking and wrapping up the day in Maydena: Having beers in the air during sunset and landing straight onto the Hardline course made it one of the most memorable moments of the entire trip.

Kriss loved every area they rode, but Maydena stood out:

“It’s like a downhill skatepark in the jungle – a lot bigger than everything I rode with long trails, big jumps and no rocks – definitely one of the best bike parks I’ve ever ridden.”
