Seven Days Beyond the World Cup, with Nino.

After more than two decades at the top of the sport, 2026 marks a new chapter for Nino Schurter.

Together with Thomas Frischknecht, he travelled to Canada to line up at the legendary BC Bike Race, an event that had long remained on his bucket list.

Seven days of racing across Vancouver Island took Nino and his Spark RC through some of British Columbia's most iconic singletrack. With no team support and no mechanics, Nino and Frischi tackled the race together, taking care of everything themselves, just like in the early days of Nino's career.

Chasing Something Different
Having stepped away from the World Cup circuit in favour of a different race calendar, Nino now has the freedom to take on the events and adventures that once had to wait.

The BC Bike Race was one of them. Seven days of racing, spectacular trails and a new kind of challenge ultimately led to overall victory in his first appearance at the event. But this time, success meant more than standing on the top step.

“I think what I had to learn is that success is not just the result. It’s when you enjoyed it and had fun. That’s real success.” Nino said after the race.
