126

North America’s premier mountain bike festival celebrating trials, adventure and cycling culture returned to Arkansas (USA) as the Bentonville Bike Fest hosted its finals on June 13th and 14th.

The festival featured a spectacular UCI Trials Pro competition and also introduced the inaugural Red Bull Double Down Dirt Contest, bringing together teams of two and some of the world’s best freestyle athletes.

Absolute strength, power, skill, insight, balance, explosiveness and patience are just a few of the skills that were required to master the UCI Trials Pro competition. Riders challenged an obstacle course consisting of huge boulders, logs, concrete pipes and other difficult objects. The UCI Trials Finals brought some of the world's best bike trials athletes to Bentonville Bike Fest. Alejandro Montalvo (ESP), the reigning UCI Trials World Champion in the 20-inch category, delivered a near-flawless performance in the men's final to take the win ahead of Finland's Niilo Stenvall and fellow Spaniard Dani Cegarra.

In the women's final, Vera Barón underlined her status as one of the discipline's leading athletes by securing victory ahead of France's Nina Vabre and Switzerland's Debi Studer. The Spaniard controlled the competition from the opening sections and capped off an impressive weekend against a highly international field.
