A summer on campus with Danny MacAskill

While most employees were enjoying their summer vacations in 2024, Scottish street trials and mountain bike legend Danny MacAskill and his crew were tearing up the adidas campus, also known as the World of Sports.

Over the course of two full weeks, the eight-member team turned the iconic grounds into their playground, generating an incredible 20 terabytes of footage. The condensed result, Campus – a four-minute video of next-level street trials riding – was released in October 2024. Now, a behind-the-scenes feature offers a closer look at the making of this exciting project.

Danny shares his perspective on what makes the adidas campus such a unique location. We gain insight into the trick that pushed him to his absolute limits, as well as the one that came together surprisingly quickly. Even a very special guest shows up during the production, highlighting a key difference between Danny and most other athletes.

One of the most important elements of Danny's projects is his trusted and experienced team. In the behind- the-scenes footage, Director Robbie Meade, and the rest of the crew also get their moment in the spotlight. It becomes clear that the people behind the camera are sometimes more nervous and tense than Danny himself.

“The Campus is up there with one of the most fun projects we’ve done, and it made for such a nice working atmosphere, especially when Danny was needing to psych himself up for some of the bigger stunts in the film, like that massive drop to flat. I’ve never seen him drop that high before, so I’d be lying if I didn’t have some slight concern for his body and bike, but as always – he nailed it”

This behind-the-scenes provides a unique glimpse into the dedication, passion, and camaraderie that got into creating Campus.

“Having unrestricted access to adidas’ campus was certainly an amazing experience, both for the film crew and for Danny, who could tap into his creativity around deciding where to ride. As Danny projects go, I think this was one of the smoothest ever. He really nailed tricks and didn’t get too stuck on any, plus having a backdrop as unique as the campus led to some mega unique shots and a wicked edit.”
