Trail Report: Golden Boner

5109

I just finished a lap down Golden Boner to Roam in the Loam, then Blackcomb Corners.

The trail is in great shape, with some work being recently done to the access road taking out some of the rutty loose bits that happen from all the ATV's that drive up the road.

If you have never done GB, you can get to it by entering a trailhead right across the intersection of Lost Lake Rd & Blackcomb Way.  Follow the access road up, and turn left.  Follow it up and it will come to another intersection where you will go left again.  Follow the road, and there will be a turn to the right.  Ride up that to the yellow gate, and continue onwards & upwards.

You will pass the entrance for Roam in the Loam on the right at the first big corner that turns to the left.  Keep climbing up! You only have four more climbing sections.

On the third section you will come across the trail as it cuts across the road from the first section into the second section.  Continue up the road and you will see the entrance to Golden Boner on your right at the top.

If you hit the ski run, you have gone too far... but there is a couple trails further up if you want to keep going... but that's another post.

The first section is fun and flowy, with a couple technical rock sections, it leads across the access road to section #2 which has had some work done on it in the last couple of years.  There now is a couple options for routes down it, clearly marked but both being totally ridable.  Towards the end of the second section there has been a re-route made to bypass the horse trail, which is nice as I have managed to hit some horse paddies before on that bit which wasn't pleasant.

You will get spit back out onto the access road and can travel uphill about 30 metres to the trailhead for Roam in the Loam.
