Tarek Rasouli, back in the Whistler Dirt.

Imagine being one of the pioneers of freeride mountain biking, witnessing the opening of the very first bike parks, and then having to wait nearly a quarter of a century to finally shred bike park trails again.

In summer 2026, Tarek Rasouli made that almost unthinkable, distant dream of a bike park return come true. Aboard his new Bowhead RX, currently the most progressive adaptive mountain bike out there and powered by the Bosch Performance Line CX, Tarek headed to British Columbia in August to ride the trails of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

The video of Tarek’s bike park comeback in Whistler is available now on the Bosch eBike Systems YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUB0TQvV0sc

Tarek Rasouli is one of the trailblazers of freeride mountain biking and was already riding Whistler Bike Park back in the early 2000s. In 2002, a serious mountain bike crash in nearby Sun Peaks left him with a spinal cord injury that turned his life upside down. Shortly before the crash, Tarek had even been coaching at a mountain bike camp in Whistler Bike Park alongside his Frorider teammates Wade Simmons, Richie Schley and Thomas Vanderham.

Within a few years of his accident, he was regularly out on a hand cycle on the roads around his hometown of Munich. But Tarek also never turned his back on mountain biking. He continued to shape the sport behind the scenes and, over the past 24 years, visited countless bike parks for slopestyle events that he organized himself and for various Crankworx and World Cup stops. Yet he was always there as a spectator or organizer. For a long time, riding real bike park trails himself seemed out of reach.

His comeback now was made possible through a collaboration with Bosch eBike Systems and Bowhead Bikes. During his visit at Crankworx Whistler in end of July 2026, Tarek was handed the second-generation Bowhead RX on site and headed straight out onto the trails of Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

Thanks to the latest generation of the Bosch Performance Line CX, the new Bowhead RX delivers plenty of power for lap after lap in the bike park. The motor puts out 120 Nm of torque and 750 W, with 600% assist. Two PowerTube 750 batteries provide plenty of range for longer adventures. The adaptive mountain bike features the new MoFlo suspension with 115 mm of travel, up from 75 mm on the previous version. Tarek chose 24-inch wheels up front and a 27.5-inch wheel in the rear.

Joining Tarek in Whistler was Gustavo “Guga” Ortiz from Bowhead. The former downhill racer showed him the right trails for his first laps.

“I was pretty blown away to be sitting in the gondola heading up the mountain again after 24 years. At the trailhead I was nervous and stoked, and I could feel this was going to be a really special day for me,” says Tarek. “After a little jump session in the Joyride Skill Area, I was getting more and more of a feel for the bike and the extra power of the new Bosch Performance Line CX. Then on the Crank It Up trail I hit a series of jumps with some airtime. I hadn’t felt that kind of joy on a bike in more than 24 years, but there it was again.”
