The season is well under way and with the next event, Swatch Rocket Air coming up soon on April 29th and April 30th, riders will be bringing their tricks for a rumble in the jungle, hoping to claim the first wildcard of the season.

This year a record number of six Gold events have registered for the FMB World Tour so far, including two new FISE World Series stops in Edmonton (CAN) and Chengdu (CHN).

Gold events are the last stepping stone for upcoming riders to jump their way into the ultimate FMB Diamond Series, from which the World Champion title is in sights. Aside from FMB ranking points and prize money, at Swatch Rocket Air in Thun (Switzerland) riders will also be competing for a wildcard to the second FMB Diamond Stop, Crankworx Les Gets.

The "Rumble in the Jungle" was a legendary battle in the box ring. On April 30th 2016 the jungle is coming to Thun, and the battle may be just as legendary. A course featuring old planes and containers was the setting for Thomas Genon's second consecutive victory at Swatch Rocket Air last year. Now the competition has gone wild! The current World Champion and the rest of the rider line-up, will be riding through a jungle theme course and sending tricks off a Maya tower to try and claim victory. After pre-qualifying on Friday and qualifying on Saturday afternoon, things will get intense in the finals on April 30th from 7.45 pm. Everyone, who cannot make it to Switzerland that weekend, will be able to watch all the action on www.fmbworldtour.com.

For riders, who just missed the cut for the FMB Diamond Series, hope is not gone! At gold events athletes can compete for significant FMB ranking points, prize money and a precious FMB wildcard invitation to an upcoming Diamond Series Event. The FMBA will award 2 wildcards for each of the remaining Diamond Series stops at selected events. The first of the wildcards will be handed out at Swatch Rocket Air for Crankworx Les Gets. The wildcard will be awarded to the highest placed athlete, who is not already invited to the Diamond stop. Below is a detailed overview of the available wildcards. The wildcard system is designed to give the best of the upcoming riders that last push to step into the ring with the very best. From there, anything is possible.

By the way, check out this link, leading to an interview with Max Fredriksson, Tomas Lemoine and Torquato Testa, who have also already been able to acquire wildcards in the past.
