BC Bike Race Day 1. Welcome to the farm.

1185

Our first 2024 Basecamp at Double Dutch Farm in Victoria was buzzing with activity yesterday as racers from 36 countries converged on the beautiful rural acreage complete with cattle, goats and farm dogs.

For the Prologue, we sent racers through the techy wonderland of Mt Work Park in Victoria, British Columbia's capital at the southernmost point of Vancouver Island. Their 22.7 km ride today was short yet critical as it determines their start line placement for the week.

Former Olympian and multi-BCBR winner in the women's field, Katerina Nash was stoked to be back for another year. “This is one of the best races in the world and I’m excited when people come and try it... As I near the end of my career I’m more selective of the events I truly want to do, and I have the luxury to choose my schedule. I keep coming back to BCBR because the riding is really special.”

Nash leads the women after today's stage alongside fellow BCBR alumni and defending men's champ Andrew L’Esperance. Visit our website for the full race results, race report, and the daily event highlights with photos and video sure to give you that FOMO feeling. (Pssst: You can avoid that feeling next year by signing up early. Super Early Bird Registration opens July 9 🚵‍♂️ 💥)
