Singletrack 6 2018. Day 4.

We moved on to RevelSTOKE today for stage 4 and met up with some new riders that joined in for the last 3 days the "ST3 Monashees".

I had a chance to warm up with a TransRockies legend, Jon Gould, and reminisce a bit about the ten events he has been a part of and how excited he was to ride the lush loamy trails in Revelstoke for the first time.

The morning conversations all seemed to sound the same as the words flowy, fast, and thick dark forest circled around as riders warmed up and waited at the start line. The later start with the hour time gain had a warm energy to today's start. The air was warmer for sure and I think everyone enjoyed sleeping in.

The gun went off, thanks to the stage sponsor Thule, and the riders rode out to the start of the singletrack. The course took us up another awesome well-built trail called Flowdown. Switchback after switchback the climb spread out the field and then droped them into Dusty Beaver, which had berms and rollers that felt like they went on forever. MacPherson trails are extremely enjoyable, and something that I feel makes them so good is the consistency in the trail building. Once you get your groove on in one or two of the trails the rest seem to blend right in and you can find your flow.

The cool temps in the dark forest helped keep the pace hot today. It seemed like the open men had a fun race with Justin Lindine finishing first overall followed by the young stallion Carter Nieuwesteeg, Tomi Misser and Mr.Guthrie seconds back. Tomi joked about the young guys and how much quicker they recover than him after these hot, hard days in the saddle.

Jena G took the stage win with Elyse 2nd and new up and coming stage racer Brittany Webster 3rd, a few seconds ahead of Mical Dyck. 50+ (but young at heart) Peter Findlay wins the stage and moves up into top spot in the GC ahead of Mimmo Futia. The European men still hold the GC in the open and 80+ and the Farting Rainbows leaving a colourful trail of 1st place skid marks around every berm among the women. Evan and Mical took the timed DH on today's stage.
