Singletrack 6 2018. Day 3.

I've done a enough of these multi day stage races now to know that Day 3 hurts. You go hard the first 2 days and your body gets mad at you and then you try and go hard on day 3 and your body doesn't want you to. Thankfully this years day 3 took us into a super long descent after a quick dry heaving climb at 7500 feet in the alpine.

The course then descended, for 6000 feet, a zillion berms and a million jumps. This caused a bit of damage on the overall results.

In the first climb Cory Wallace was looking strong leading the field until he cut his sidewall and spent a lot of time trying to fix it. After trying a gel shot wrapper and then his credit card, yes credit card which doesn't work, a rider gave him a tire boot. The entire field of riders passed Cory and it took him patience and skill to get back up to speed.

Justin Lindine came across the finish line with two tire plugs sticking out of his back wheel and lost time and the top spot in the GC. Mimmo Futia was leading the 50+ up until today and Peter Findlay came across the line first with Geoff Clark moving up into top spot in the GC. Mimmo looked a bit dusty and scratched up crossing the finish line as did several other top riders.

Smooth sailing Tomi Misser crossed the line first today putting more time into the 40+ category and Evan Guthrie kept the rubber side down to take the top spot in the open men's overall. It was Rebecca Beaumonts day in the open women's category but Jena Greaser is still the queen bee. There were no shake ups in the men's or women's team categories and in yesterday's write up I called the Farting Rainbows the Rainbow Farts, which Karen actually liked, sorry. Chris Johnston took the W on the timed descent as did Jena Greaser once again.

Good job to all the ST3 riders and thank you Golden and the trail crew for an awesome 3 days. That was a blast! Off to Revelstoke tomorrow for some shady dark forest shredding.
