Career best for Greg Williamson at Fort Bill.

Fort William, the classic stop on the international downhill calendar, once again delivered quality racing in front of a huge and passionate crowd of spectators yesterday in mixed weather conditions that had riders dealing with strong gusty headwinds and frequent outbreaks of light showers.

Trek World Racing's hard work for this round was rewarded with yet another top 10 for the team, as well as Neko Mulally leaving the venue in 5th place overall. Birthday boy Greg Williamson came down quite early in the order after having crashed in qualifying the day before. Wind gusts of up to 40mph at the top of the mountain had taken the Scot's front wheel out from under him at high speed, and he ultimately qualified in 64th. Taking the hot-seat early in the final meant he sat there for a record breaking 1hr 41mins and was rewarded with a 9th place, his best yet in World Cup racing.

Greg said: "On one hand it's always special to be racing this track, my home World Cup in front of so many friends and family, but on the other hand, managing the pressure that comes along with all that is so important. I'm just really relieved and happy to have put down a great run and get the result today."

George Brannigan unfortunately crashed in qualifying and lost a lot of time recovering his bike that went a long way off course and ultimately finished in 95th. This meant George had to sit out race day. Meanwhile Brook MacDonald who qualified 9th, ran into trouble half way down the mountain in his finals run and went off course losing time returning back to the track. However the big news for Brook is that his speed is back after a long recovery from injury. On the bottom sector of the course Brook was 3rd fastest in the race and actually the fastest rider in qualifying.

Brook said: "This week is the first week that I really felt my old self at a World Cup and it feels great to be where I am right now. Bit pissed at the error in the middle section of the race run, it cost me a lot more time than I thought, but my other splits are really encouraging."

Neko Mulally qualified 30th and finished 23rd on a track that he knew would be the most challenging for him this season, so to be walking away with a ranking in the top 5 is a lot better than it could have been. Neko is looking forward to the next 3 race courses where he's enjoyed success in previous years, and gaining more points towards his overall campaign.

Junior World Cup rider Laurie Greenland had a very solid weekend qualifying in 7th, and then moving that up to 6th for the final. It was the first time that Laurie had ridden a sub 5 minute run since he's been racing at Fort William, and his result has catapulted him up from 16th to 9th in the overall standings.

The team now moves to Austria for round 4 of the World Cup this weekend in Leogang.
