Next year sees the UCI Elite Team, Trek World Racing, entering its 7th season on the World Cup circuit and will do so with 4 talented riders returning from 2014. For 2014, the FMBA introduced the all-new FMB Factory Team ranking. Just like the FMB Diamond Series, the title was anyone's for the taking. After a full season of FMB Diamond Series stops, Trek rider Brandon Semenuk emerged victorious. While this year saw the Canadian athlete take his third FMB World Champion title, he is not alone in his celebrations. The team behind the world's foremost mountain bike stage race, the Absa Cape Epic in South Africa, is spreading its wings ... into the Swiss Alps.

From January 14 to 18 in 2015 it will stage Snow Epic, Europe's first winter festival of biking, in the idyllic Alps town of Engelberg. The riding will be done on fatbikes, the new super fat-wheeled trend taking the world of cycling by storm. The event will also host a winter biking expo in the town at the same time.

In this, the 2nd episode of his 2014 film series, we see Fabien Barel reflecting on a new course, one focused on recovery rather than riding the trail ahead. Fab's riding season was cut short when a crash in Chile during the first Enduro World Series event left him with a badly fractured vertabra. "This exercise in recovery is clearly a mental challenge, » said Fab. « A challenge that is not different from racing. I need to dedicate myself to it and put all my energy into it to stay solid." For such a strong and energetic rider as Fab, it's a defining moment of his life. But as you'll see, he also recognizes that things could be much worse, and in fact he's lucky to have a good life and all its opportunities. For now, the Fab Barel Presents series is on hold while he spends the summer regaining strength. We hope to see him back on the bike soon, in new episodes of FBP!

Garrett Robertson wins wildcard entry to Red Bull District Ride

The list of riders for Red Bull District Ride on September 6th just got a little longer. Garrett Robertson will join the line up for this FMB World Tour Diamond event. The Canadian secured himself a wildcard last weekend at the GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado (USA). Now, Swatch Prime Line Munich on July 20th is the only event left for riders to grab an invite to Red Bull District Ride. After that, riders will have to battle for points at other FMB World Tour contests in order to move up the ranks and qualify for Red Bull District Ride. Not bothered by rankings or points, 15 young talents toured through Germany during the Red Bull Wings Academy – Road to District Ride. Its been coming for some time now and Josh "Ratboy" Bryceland hit his stride today in Leogang, Austria to take his first ever world cup downhill win! He put his stamp on the time of second place teammate Greg Minnaar with a 1.27 margin on this blazing fast course. Steve Peat placed 31st which keeps all three Syndicate riders protected in the top twenty overall. Josh moves up into 3rd overall in the series, Greg moves up to 6th and Steve 18th.

After the incredible welcome Chile and Scotland gave to the enduro mountain bike racing community in the first two rounds of the Enduro World Series, it's hard to say that enduro has any particular physical headquarters. But if there's a spiritual home to the sport, it would be France, and if there's a spiritual godfather, it would be Fred Glo.

Glo's Tribe Events hosts the Enduro Series Valloire driven by Urge Bike Products this weekend, June 21-22. The location, at the base of famous Galibier Pass in the Savoie region of the northern Alps, is a resort and mountain bike hub, with approximately 150 km of marked trails.

Italian mountain biker Riccardo Chiarini, who finished fourth overall in the 2014 Absa Cape Epic with partner Roel Paulissen of Belgium (Team Torpado Factory), has tested positive for unusually high levels of EPO.

The former road professional was tested out-of-competition on May 7 this year by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The finding of excessive EPO (erythropoietin) was made in terms of the biological passport system. Torpado, the Italian bicycle manufacturer and team sponsor, confirmed it had been informed of the positive test results and had suspended the rider with immediate effect pending any appeal.

Richmond Regional Ride Center is the third winner in the Bell Built contest

The Richmond Regional Ride Center, headed up by RVA MORE, will split the $100,000 in grant money with the two other regional winners. With help from both Bell Helmets and those at IMBA, this grant money will help secure the funding to rehabilitate 15 miles of existing mountain bike trail and construct an additional 20 miles of trail.

Downhill mountain bike enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park and this week the anticipation comes to an end. On Friday May 16 the Whistler Mountain Bike Park will open for the season thanks to the hard work of an army of trail crew. The trail crew battled snow, weather, drainage, and other obstacles to dig, pack, and shape the berms, jumps, and trails. Easton had been on a big selling spree recently, with Baseball & Hockey sold off a little while ago, and Riddell previously up on the blocks. It seems that they have wanted to shed all of the brands other than Bell & Giro. Nothing wrong doubling down and being focused, knowing what you want to go for. But I was a little surprised when earlier this week the press release came out that Chris Tutton had stepped in and bought Easton Cycling.

Two South African mountain bikers are out of the Absa Cape Epic after failing anti-doping tests. One of the riders has been provisionally suspended by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) and in the meantime is not eligible to take part in any races sanctioned by the International Cycling Union (UCI) - including the Cape Epic. His case is currently being reviewed by SAIDS.

So, basically the same thing you have seen over the last few years, but optimized for DH applications.  The Cassette is 7 speed, 10-24 gearing with 2 steps in each gear.

Shifter is same styled XO, just chopped to 7 speeds instead of 10/11.

Rear deraileur is very similar, with it also being optimized for the 7 speed cassette, and it will be availalble in 2 different cage lengths.

It''s scary how fast the 2013 season came and went. Then again, with all the action, nail biting contests and heart stopping moments, it''s no surprise that the year flew past. Surrounded by the heated battle for the FMB World Tour title, both CANYON riders, Thomas Genon and Anton Thelander had their best season to date. One year ago, they had their first ride on the new CANYON ''Stitched'' dirt bike and from there they toured the globe, competing at the biggest competitions on the FMB World Tour calendar. These included: Red Bull Berg Line and X Games Munich in Germany, Crankworx Les Deux Alpes in France, Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx in the Canadian Whistler as well as Red Bull Rampage in the desert of Utah. 2013 was packed with highlights but the new season recap clip summarizes their season and re-lives their best, podium winning runs.
