On February 1, 2017 the Austrian mountain biker and trials rider Fabio Wibmer and his university friend Elias Schwärzler uploaded the first Sick! Series episode onto YouTube. Fabio already had several viral hits with edits like Fabiolous Escape and Out of Mind at that time but the start of Sick! Series marked a new chapter for the East-Tyrolean rider.

Stage 3 of the Cape Epic 2018 took the riders from Robertson to Worcester. The transition day marked the longest distance of the 2018 Cape Epic and athletes had to face challenges like the Porcupine Trap, a flat-out section through sandy fynbos trails toward the Saggy Stone Brewery.

On paper, Stage 1’s 110km/1900m course looked scripted for the marathon riders but as we discovered yesterday the Untamed African MTB Race is filled with surprises – and that’s exactly how the day played out. The racing set off at a blistering pace that was described as “dangerous” and “intense” by Karl Platt who struggled in early parts of the stage.

The melting pot of Whistler was once again turned up to 11. There is one thing this venue never fails to provide and that is intensity. With a 70km loop packed into one boiling hot day over five stages, it was always going to serve up some surprises and challenges, the riders probably didn’t think there would be quite as many as there were.

The full movie will be released in just over a month, featuring and following Myriam Nicole, Rémi Thirion, Thibaut and Gaëtan Ruffin and Gaëtan Vigé as well as the rest of the crew throughout the 2015 race season.

A few weeks ago, after World Championships, we came to Rémi's place in Les Vosges in the north east of France, where he was born and has lived for 25 years. He showed us his home enduro trails on the META AM V4.

The Crankworx Whistler Pump Track saw a serious battle Thursday evening with Adrien LORON (FRA) coming in, game face on, to carve out a name for himself as the first Pump Track Series winner.

Loron and Joost WICHMAN (NED), the Pump Track Champion from Crankworx Rotorua, went head to head in the quarter finals, eliminating Wichman, one of the top three Pump Track competitors in the world, by mere millimetres well before the end of the night, and leaving Loron to face a Crankworx legend.

The premium Italian resort Livigno is still peppered with a thin layer of snow. After an exciting weekend at the Riva BIKE Festival the 2015 mountain bike season is under way and leading the charge is the Italian bike destination, Livigno. To mark the start of the season, Livigno invited Danny MacAskill's Drop and Roll Tour to put on amazing live shows at the bike festival. In between the shows, fans could meet the riders in person at the Livigno booth and learn more about the region's biking opportunities. Needless to say, everyone enjoyed "la bella vita" last weekend.

Every year, once the snow melts away and trees start to blossom – thousands of bike fans are eager to discover what new bike, shock, apparel and bike trail is available. The place to be to learn all of this is the BIKE Festival in Riva. To celebrate the best of biking, Italy's "little Tibet", Livigno, invited the YouTube sensation, Danny MacAskill and his Drop and Roll Team to the festival. Together, Danny and teammate Duncan Shaw were the hit of the week!

It was a Scottish one / two in the women's race at The 2015 British National Mountain Bike Marathon Championships, supported by EventScotland, staged in Selkirk in The Scottish Borders on Saturday 02 May.

Kerry MacPhee (28) - Rock and Road Cycles, the 2014 Scottish National Cross Country Mountain Bike Champion, a top 15 finisher at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, took the British title after a very closely fought race that saw her complete the 75km course, with 2300m of climb, in 04:31:08. Lee Craigie (35 - Inverness) – Cannondale UK, the British XC MTB Champion 2013, took second place, two minutes behind MacPhee, in 04:33:20. Melanie Alexander - Contessa Scott Syncros – matched her 2014 third place finish in a time of 04:50:09.

Back-to-back Enduro World Series champion Trek Factory Racing returns with with eyes focused on an unprecedented three-peat in 2015. The team's European-based squad consists of 2013 and 2014 series champion Tracy Moseley (GBR), Rene Wildhaber (SUI), and Justin Leov (NZL). American enduro power-couple Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski (USA) and Heather Irmiger (USA) round out the team. The Americans will compete in a number of Enduro World Series events but will focus their efforts primarily on North American races.

After eight days of thrilling racing, 748km of distance and 16.000m of altitude, Christoph Sauser (SUI) and Jaroslav Kulhavy (CZE) won the general classification (MEN) of this year's Cape Epic by 10 minutes and 41 seconds from Topeak Ergon's Alban Lakata of Austria and Kristian Hynek of the Czech Republic. After a tough week in beautiful South Africa with many mechanical problems the German/Swiss duo Karl Platt and Urs Huber from team BULLS ended up third at the world's toughest mountain biking stage race.

 

No Canadian's in WhiteStyle this year. Meh.

Starting February 13th, the mountain bike off-season becomes a thing of the past. Twenty freeride athletes will come to Leogang, Austria for White Style, the first FMB World Tour event in 2015. If that was not exciting enough, the 2013 White Style winner Pavel "Cherry bomb" Alekhin will return to the snow after a long injury break. New for 2015, the Kona Team splits into two separate groups: Kona Gravity and Kona Endurance. The move is designed to further the focus and brand reach of what was once the Kona Team. Kona Gravity includes both our big mountain athletes and our World Cup Team, while Kona Endurance includes our cross-country, marathon, cyclocross and endurance road athletes. Each group will be running different sponsor groups, with the Gravity team very excited to continue with a new contract with SRAM components and RockShox suspension, and another year on Stan's No-Tubes wheelsets. The Endurance squad will be running Shimano drivetrains and wheels, Fox suspension and Pro Cockpits, and clothing from Champion System. Both teams will be running Maxxis tires, WTB saddles and FSA headsets.

Biking.ie has today announced that Carrick Mountain in County Wicklow is the venue for round two of the 2015 Enduro World Series.

The Chain Reaction Cycles Emerald Enduro will take place in the diverse terrain of Carrick Mountain, one of the most scenic parts of Ireland. With stunning views across the Wicklow hills to the Irish Sea and a landscape that changes from open rocky mountainside to rooty, flowy woodland singletrack, Carrick is a classic Irish venue.

Banger tricks filled Leogang's 26TRIX contest at Out of Bounds Festival in 2014. Riders showed combos, which are hard to describe, close to impossible to ride but simply amazing to watch. Two of the tricks were never even seen before! Young guns Nicholi Rogatkin (1st) and Matt Jones (3rd) made it clear at 26TRIX that they mean business this year. Top dawg Thomas Genon's usual precision and consistency landed him in second. Just missing the podium, Antoine Bizet bagged the prize money for the GoPro Best Trick.

The 2018 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships presented by Mercedes Benz got off to a great start for the host nation as Switzerland took gold in the Cross-Country Team Relay, followed by Germany in second and Denmark in third place. The Parade of Flags featuring the 57 participating nations officially kicked off the biggest mountain bike event of the year.
