Review - Fox Womens Diva Short

I have been riding in a pair of Fox Racing Women’s Diva Shorts for the past couple of months. As I usually expect thick, canvas-like material from Fox apparel, I was surprised to find these shorts are super lightweight, soft and very comfortable. They fit and look like board shorts (a bonus, if you ask me) - and, as mainly an XC rider - I was impressed that they came with a detachable inner liner with chamois. The liner is the perfect length (fairly short) and features a low-riding waist, so doesn’t stick out the top of the over-shorts. Plus, they actually fit well and do not ride up as liners are notoriously guilty of. My only complaint is with the chamois itself—the material was a little too bulky and felt more like foam than the soft chamois I am used to. Down the side of each hip is a flexible strip of cooling material that helps keep you cool on big climbs.

For the most part, I used them specifically on my XC rides (I have a heavier pair for downhilling). As far as mobility went, the design allowed easy pedaling and is super comfortable to ride in. There is a stretchy patch on the middle of the back and an adjustable waist. The only problem is the extra material that makes them so comfy to ride in balloons out when you’re off the bike and is less-than-flattering to my finely-sculpted rear end (ha ha).

Unlike most biking shorts, these feature excellent pockets – three zip-up, streamlined pockets that aren’t too bulky. One of the pockets is a stash located in the lower center of the back. While these shorts look like boardies, with a cool flowery design, the downfall of their appearance is the colour—Fox calls them "Dark Khaki" but I felt they were a little too close to mustard yellow for me. (They are also available in black).

Overall, I was impressed by the Diva short and other than my personal preference on the colour, it’s a decent product for women who need a good lightweight XC short.

Opinion: Great light weight, board short style XC shorts.

Plus: Liner with chamois that doesn’t ride up, great pockets
Minus: Didn't like the Dark Khaki colour. (But are available in black)
